SCRIBS BENZeum is thrilled to present the 1st Santos Beach Auto Extremo, a spectacular show of Retro Classics and Modern Supercars in Mossel Bay on Sunday, September 1, 2024. The event will be held at the scenic beachfront de Bakke Santos

The name "Auto Extremo" is abbreviated from the Portuguese for "Automóvel Extremo," reflecting the heritage of Mossel Bay, where Portuguese explorer Bartolomeu Dias arrived in 1488. This connection highlights the historical significance and the excitement of high-speed supercars.

Waldo and René Scribante, passionate motor enthusiasts and owners of SCRIBS BENZeum, have been integral to the Classic Car movement since 1996, starting with their first classic car, a 1965 Mercedes-Benz 300SE Long. Waldo currently serves as the President of the Mercedes-Benz Club of South Africa and the Chairman of the Southern Cape Old Car Club, while René chairs the Southern Cape Region of the Mercedes-Benz Club. Their collection of classic Mercedes-Benzes will be on display, alongside vehicles from other classic and modern supercar owners.

Waldo Scribante's love for German technology as a Radiologist reflects in his collection of Mercedes-Benzes. His Italian heritage fuels his passion for supercars, adding a personal touch to the event.

Alewijn Dippenaar, chairman of the Santos Beach Auto Extremo organizing committee and current organizer of the George Old Car Motor Show, envisions this motoring event becoming a significant touring event in the Southern Cape region in partnership with the Mossel Bay Municipality and Tourism.

“All the great car shows in the world have one thing in common, and that is a beautiful backdrop. There is Villa D’Este, which is the premier classic car event in Italy on the shores of Lake Como, and of course, Pebble Beach, in Monterey, Southern California. If you add to that the superlative roads and mountain passes right on our doorstep here in Mossel Bay, you have the makings of an event that could be unrivalled in its appeal to motoring connoisseurs.”

"The de Bakke Santos venue is perfectly situated along the beachfront of Santos Beach. In tradition with the annual Spring Snoek Braai, now in its 27th year, hosted by Meester Snoekbraaier Kobus Harris and his apprentices, entrants can purchase a Snoek picnic basket during registration and enjoy lunch under the trees amidst beautiful motorcars and fellow enthusiasts," said Dippenaar.

“We would like to develop the Mossel Bay event to span over several days, during which visitors will be treated to the delights of the town and surrounding areas. Think pairings at Jakkalsvlei wine estate and slow cruises to the coastal hamlets that comprise Greater Garden Route,” says Media Director, Mimi Finestone .

“The festival promises an unforgettable experience, supported by a dedicated team with expertise in organizing such events. In partnership with local International Humanitarian Benefactor Chapters, the event also aims to raise funds to benefit the surrounding communities,” added Dippenaar.
