BoxOp 2: Sportland BoxOp

Sportland BOXOP: A new season of suspense is upon us ...
And the first onslaught of speculation about the chances of victory of the two featured celebrity boxers has already started.
Obviously, the most exciting news of all is the fact that Sportland, a new Product of Lottoland South Africa, has been announced as title sponsor of BOXOP 2. (Sportland makes the most important sporting events from all over the world available for you to bet on at www.sportland.co.za.)
- Sportland BOXOP, presented on Saturday, 6 November 2021 in Pretoria, South Africa, and livestreamed to a global audience, promises to be a blockbuster of a whole different dimension.
Like we shared with you in the not so distant past, BOXOP has been created to give everyone – everywhere across South Africa and the world - a front row seat in their own homes to see who will come out on top: Bad-boy Rock or - this time around - Bad-boy Comedy!
Because Sportland BOXOP features Ross Learmonth in the blue corner versus Kevin Fraser in the red corner:
- Ross Learmonth - musician, vocalist and lyricist, best known as lead singer of South African rock band Prime Circle - has spent the past two decades breaking international boundaries. Since their first single, 'Hello', rocketed to the top of the charts in 2003, the band achieved over 10 ‘number one’ hits in South Africa and Germany. Showcasing his superb song writing abilities, Ross ventured into solo projects in 2019. His long-awaited debut solo EP is set to be released late 2021.
- Kevin Fraser brings a unique fusion of music and comedy to the stage. Since 2013, he has entertained thousands of people in over 100 venues and festivals in South Africa, Indonesia, Australia, the UK, Europe and in Miami in the USA, sharing the stage with the likes of Steve Aoki, Afrojack and Avicii. During a multi-year stint in Australia, Kevin's natural comedic talent brought to life a community of stereotypical South African personas - video views of his persona in The Melbourne Train Ride and Honourable Teletubbies have repeatedly broken the one million mark. Kevin has entertained over 50 cities in 2018 with his ‘Club Can’t Handle Me’ show. He has achieved even bigger success in 2019 with his ‘Leave The World Behind Tour’, which came to a halt at the start of the global pandemic. Kevin looks forward to a bumper 2022 tour.
Five thrilling ‘white collar fights’ fights will precede the big showdown between Ross Learmonth and Kevin Fraser. Moreover, five of South Africa’s top music performers will round out the night’s sports-entertainment offering.
- Jack Parow
- Early B
- Karen Zoid
- YoungstaCPT
- Tidal Waves
Are we sure we can handle this level of excitement again? No, we are not!
Because BOXOP 1 has taught us one thing: It’s not over until it’s over … not until our nerves are tied into a knot and our fingernails chewed to a shadow of their former selves by the time the longest last two minutes in the history of a boxing match have run out.
Sportland BOXOP is gearing up to be one of the hottest topics this spring: A sparring match of arguments about the probability of each celebrity boxer’s ability to brawl his way to the light … of victory.
The armchair intellectuals agree it is all about intestinal fortitude; we shall refrain from speculating in this paragraph whether a winning trait like ‘that’ can be managed solely by plain old probiotics. Some say the deciding factor is ‘weight’. What else can it be? - the heaviest guy always wins! Some sniff dismissively that it is all about height and armlength. What else can it be? - the tallest guy always wins! Some raise their eyebrows knowingly and say it is all about the ‘brawn’. What else can it be? - the strongest guy always wins!
Please don’t stop sweating the argument.
Because Ross Learmonth and Kevin Fraser will be tied up in question marks until the final bell rings.
